Looking For Alternative to Conventional Air Fresheners?
Try lavender essential oil!
Here are DIY inexpensive natural alternatives that you can make yourself at home.
Make Your Own Essential Oil Blend For Your Air Diffuser.
One of Our Favorite DIY Essential Oil Blends:
7 drops of lemon essential oil
5 drops of bergamot essential oil
5 drops of lavender essential oil
3 drops of lime or grapefruit essential oil
With each season, we like to change things up as far as our diffuser blends but this one is one of our go to all year round. This citrus-floral blend is refreshing yet also very calming and grounding.Note: Depending on the size of your diffuser, you might need to modify the number of actual drops, but we suggest keeping a similar ratio.
Have fun while making your own personal blend!
2. Fresh Air Naturally.
Air Freshener:
Pour 1.5 oz. of vodka into a 4 oz. amber spray glass bottle with 10 drops of lavender essential oil and 10 drops total of another of your favorite essential oils , such as lemon, bergamot, rosemary, and chamomile essential oils as these blend and compliment lavender well, shake.
Add 1.5 oz. of distilled water, shake well again and squirt as desired. Make sure when you use the bottle, shake first, and do not squirt too close to any objects including any furniture or your face so at least 10 to 12 inches away. Note: Always point the bottle sprayer away from your face. Keep away from direct contact with eyes or face.
Spray around the room when you need a little Zen moment. Just remember, it should be more like a light mist, not like a rain shower!
3. Stove Potpourri:
Especially around holidays, we love to make a stove potpourri, using orange and lemon peels, add water, cinnamon sticks, few cloves. You can add a few drops of lavender, lemon essential oils or any other of your favorite oils. We also typically add if we have dry lavender buds and rose petals, but those are optional. Simmer on low heat and replenish water as needed.
4. Wool Dryer Balls:
At our house, we shy away from conventional dryer sheets, instead we prefer to use wool dryer sheets. Add a few drops of lavender essential oil to them and add them to your next load of laundry. Use at least three dryer balls. Depending on the quality of essential oils you use and the frequency how often the wool dryer balls are used, the number of drops and reapplication of the essential oils may vary. This is part of the fun where you get to experiment and find the right balance.
Other common essential oils that we suggest that you might consider adding to your wool dryer balls: lemon, rosemary and eucalyptus.
